NALC Branch 181 Austin TX

Bob Bishop began his career as a letter carrier in Austin in 1983, at the orginal Balcones Station. Now its Chimney Corners Station. Bob became the shop steward at Northwest Station in 1998. Shortly after, the station moved from Anderson Lane to its present location on Northcross Drive. In 2001 Bob was assigned as a Formal Step A designee by former President Edwards. In 2002 Bob became Sgt-at-Arms of Branch 181, serving in that position until January 2004. He became Vice-President in January 2007 and served until becoming President in January 2009. 

Bob's #1 goal as President is to enforce our National Agreement to its fullest. In addition, Bob is working to ensure that stewards get the time they need on the clock to investigate and file grievances. And, all we want as employees of the Postal Service is to be treated with respect and dignity. To often supervisors and station managers cross that line. If we are to survive as an organization in todays uncertain world me must demand that we are treated just the same way that management wants us to treat them.

Bob and his wife Kim have two daughters that attend the University of Texas at Arlington..

Started with the United States [Post Office] in Austin, TX. on Jan. 20, 1969. Served as Treasurer from 1971 to 1974, served as Vice Pres. from 1974 to 1975, Served as Branch President from 1975 to 2001 and  from 2001 until the present serving as Director of Retired Members, Branch 181, Austin, TX.  Also serving as the Congressional District Legislative Liaison for the 25th. District of Texas and State Legislative/Political Liaison.
